Ease of care: Easy! Great for any experience level
Water: Drought tolerant, water when the soil is completely dry. Water thoroughly every 1-2 weeks from April - October. Water thoroughly every month from November - March.
Light: Full Sun. Can tolerate a little less light but will lose green color and stretch toward the light source.
Growth Habit/Height: Grows up and out. Develops small plantlets on side of main plant. If you allow the plantlets to grow the plant will become bushier.
Soil: A well draining soil that contains perlite. When you water thoroughly you want to see water coming out the bottom of the pot within 5-10 seconds. Here is a link to our soil suggestion: Cactus Mix
Propagation: Cut the plantlets (mini versions of the original plant) that form along the base of the main plant. Cut as close to the stalk as possible. Allow the plantlet cuttings to sit for 6 hours so the cut can callus over. Fill a pot with cactus/succulent soil, gently push the cutting into the soil. Wait to water for a day or two. Water the cutting. Within a few weeks small roots should form. Water when the soil is completely dry.
Repotting: Every 2+ years.
Fertilizing: Not needed, but you can use a cactus/succulent fertilizer or dilute a regular fertilizer with equal NPK values. N = Nitrogen, helps the plant have healthy foliage. P= Phosphorus, helps with root, bud, and seed growth. K = Potash, helps with the overall health of the plant. Use once or twice a year, in April and July.
Toxicity to animals: Toxic
