Ease of care: Medium, can be challenging when it comes to water and light requirements.
Water: Water when the soil is completely dry, usually every 1.5 - 2 weeks. Water less frequently in the winter.
Light: Bright light. Can tolerate morning/eastern light or 2 hours of afternoon/western light.
Growth Habit/Height: Bushy growth to 2 feet tall.
Propagation: Remove the whole plant from its pot. Placing the roots into a bucket or washing off with a hose makes propagation easier. Remove a corm (small, slightly separated oval mass with roots on edge of main plant). Place the original plant back into its pot with soil. Water. Fill a different pot with an inch or two of soil. Place the corm in the pot and fill around with soil. Water thoroughly.
Repotting: Every year or two, in the Spring.
Fertilizing: All purpose or indoor fertilizer with equal NPK values. N = Nitrogen, helps the plant have healthy foliage. P= Phosphorus, helps with root, bud, and seed growth. K = Potash, helps with the overall health of the plant. Fertilize every month between April and October.
Toxicity to animals: Toxic
